The 2019 America the Beautiful Silver Uncirculated Coins will mark the tenth year for the series struck by the US Mint as the collector grade versions of its America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coins™ Program. Both these America the Beautiful Five Ounce Uncirculated Silver Coins and the associated 2019 bullion strikes are each composed of five ounces of .999 fine silver with a diameter of three inches and reverse designs emblematic of selected sites of national interest.
Congress authorized the bullion coins along with a series of circulating quarters when it passed what would eventually become Public Law 110-456 (America’s Beautiful National Parks Quarter Dollar Coin Act of 2008). Knowing that many collectors would be interested in the large bullion coins, the US Mint opted to create these silver numismatic strikes under the authority granted the Treasury Secretary in 31 U.S.C. §5111(a) (3).
Both the bullion and the uncirculated series are struck from five ounces of silver and both feature a diameter of three inches. Their differences lie in their finish and the inclusion of a mintmark on the uncirculated strike.
Also, when first released, the bullion coins are sold through the Mint’s network of authorized purchasers for a small premium above the current spot price of the silver contained within them. These uncirculated strikes are sold directly to the public by the US Mint with typically a much larger premium attached to them.
