Frank Church River of No Return Silver Uncirculated Coins

The 2019 Frank Church River of No Return Silver Uncirculated Coins will be the last strike of 2019 for the US Mint’s America the Beautiful Five Ounce Uncirculated Coin Program. Each of these uncirculated coins will be struck from five ounces of .999 fine silver and feature a reverse design emblematic of the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness of Idaho.

That reverse design will also be featured on strikes from two other US Mint programs – the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program and the America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coins™. Both of these two series were authorized by Congress under Public Law 110-456 (America’s Beautiful National Parks Quarter Dollar Coin Act of 2008).

Congress made no stipulation for these uncirculated coins in that Act, however. Seeing possible interest from collectors for the five ounce bullion coins, the Treasury Secretary authorized this series of collector grade coins under the authority granted him in 31 U.S.C. §5111(a) (3).

These numismatic strikes and the associated bullion coins will feature similar specifications. This includes being struck from five ounces of precious metal to a diameter of three inches and edge inscriptions indicating their weight and fineness.

2019 Frank Church River of No Return Silver Uncirculated Coin Values

The 2019 Frank Church River of No Return Silver Uncirculated Coins will only have a face value of twenty-five cents despite really being worth much more. That is because each strike takes its design from the associated America the Beautiful Quarter along with its face value.

These strikes will have a melt value approximately equal to what five ounces of silver is currently trading for since each is composed of that amount of the precious metal. Thus, if it is trading for $25 an ounce, these coins will have a melt value of about $125 – five ounces times $25 an ounce equals $125.

Finally, since the coins are struck for collectors, they will also have a numismatic value linked to them. This is the amount a collector would be willing to pay to add the coin to their collection. Numismatic value generally carries a premium above the melt value and increases based on its condition and rarity.

Shown on the Coin Values Page will be the strikes melt and sales information once the coin has been released for sale by the US Mint.
