The 2020 Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller Silver Uncirculated Coins will mark the fifty-fourth release of the US Mint’s America the Beautiful Five Ounce Uncirculated Coin Program and will honor the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park found in the state of Vermont on its reverse. Each silver uncirculated coin in this series is struck from five ounces of the precious metal to a diameter of three inches.
These strikes are considered the numismatic versions of the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller Silver Bullion Coins, also produced by the US Mint. That is because the silver bullion coins are struck for investors whereas these uncirculated strikes are intended for collectors.
Both actually feature similar obverse and reverse imagery that will originally be designed for the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller Quarter struck as part of the Mint’s America the Beautiful Quarters® Program. Thus, each obverse will have a portrait of George Washington like those quarters do and the reverse will be emblematic of the selected site of honor.
A total of fifty-six coins will have been created in this series before it is scheduled to end in 2021 with one strike honoring a site from each state as well as the District of Columbia and the five US territories.
2020 Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller Silver Uncirculated Coin Values
These 2020 Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller Silver Uncirculated Coins will only have a face value of twenty-five cents like the quarter dollars they are struck to resemble. That face value should be the lowest of three values associated with the strikes.
Improving upon that twenty-five cents should be the melt value of the coin which is based on the five ounces of silver contained within each strike. This means the melt value will be approximately equal to what five ounces of the precious metal is currently trading for. So, if it is going for $30 an ounce, these coins would have a melt value of about $150 – five ounces times $30 an ounce equals $150.
Finally, the strikes will have a numismatic value linked to them which is what collectors would be willing to pay to obtain the coins. This value generally increases based on the condition and rarity of the strike with coins slabbed and graded highly by an independent third party grading service likely to attain the highest numismatic values.
The Mint Prices, Values & Sales Figures page will show recent melt and sales information for the coins once they have been issued by the US Mint.
Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller Silver Uncirculated Coin Information
A portrait of George Washington will be found on the obverse of this 2020 Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller Silver Uncirculated Coin. It is the same portrait found on the obverse of all of the America the Beautiful related strikes and was originally designed by John Flanagan for the 1932 circulating quarter dollar.
The reverse will contain a design emblematic of Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park found in the state of Vermont. This final design should be unveiled late in 2019 after it has been selected by the Treasury Secretary from several design candidates presented by the US Mint.
