Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller Silver Bullion Coins

Each 2020 Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller Silver Bullion Coin will be released by the US Mint to honor the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park of Vermont. The silver bullion coins are struck as part of the America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coins™ Program which feature reverse designs emblematic of sites of national interest and are struck from five ounces of .999 fine silver to a diameter of three inches.

The designs found on this silver bullion coin will actually be taken from the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller America the Beautiful Quarter struck as part of the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program. In fact, the silver bullion coin series is created to resemble the associated quarter dollars.

However, the specifications of the two series are quite different with the quarters typically struck for circulation from a clad composition. This differs from these bullion coins which are struck from five ounces of silver and are intended for investors.

Although, knowing that collectors will likely also be interested in the five ounce silver bullion coins, the US Mint will issue a numismatic version of the strike known as the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller Silver Uncirculated Coin.

2020 Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller Silver Coin Values

Since the 2020 Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller Silver Bullion Coins are struck to resemble the associated America the Beautiful Quarter, they will also have a face value of only twenty-five cents like those quarters do. This face value is likely the lowest of three values associated with the strike, however.

Making the silver bullion coin worth much more is its melt value based on the fact that each is struck from five ounces of silver. This gives it a melt value approximately equal to what that amount of the precious metal is currently trading for. So, if it is going for $30 an ounce, these strikes would have a melt value of about $150 – five ounces times $30 an ounce equals $150.

Finally, if collectors are truly interested in the strike, they may be willing to pay a premium to obtain it above the melt value. This is known as the numismatic value which generally increases based on the condition and rarity of the strike.

Current melt value and sales information for the strikes may be found on the Mint Prices, Values & Sales Figures page once the strikes have been issued.

Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller Silver Bullion Coin Information

Struck to resemble the quarter dollar series, the obverse of the 2020 Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller Silver Bullion Coins will contain a portrait of George Washington by John Flanagan. This portrait was created by Flanagan for the 1932 circulating quarter dollar and it has appeared on the quarter dollars in one form or another ever since making it one of the most recognizable portraits on American coinage.

The reverse will contain the design emblematic of the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park of Vermont. The Secretary of the Treasury will choose the final design from several candidates presented by the US Mint.
