2021 America the Beautiful 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coins

Only one coin may appear from the US Mint as part of the 2021 America the Beautiful Silver Uncirculated Coins assuming there is only one 2021 America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coin. That is because the associated bullion series is scheduled to complete its run of fifty-six five ounce .999 fine silver strikes that year with the release of only one issue.

However, when Congress authorized the America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coins™ Program (of which these silver uncirculated coins are struck to be the collector grade versions of), it also allowed for the possibility of a second complete series of fifty-six bullion coins to immediately follow the first. The decision to continue the series is left to the Treasury of the Secretary who must inform Congress of the plans by the end of the ninth year of the original program which debuted in 2010.

The US Mint is under no such direct obligation with these five ounce silver uncirculated coins because they were not directly authorized by Congress. Instead, they were created under the authority granted the Treasury Secretary in 31 U.S.C. §5111(a) (3). They were designed to be the numismatic versions of the Congressionally mandated bullion coins.

However, if the bullion coins are continued for a second run, and assuming these uncirculated coins have proven to sell well, it is likely that the US Mint would continue this series as well.
