2017 America the Beautiful 5 Ounce Silver Bullion Coins

The 2017 America the Beautiful 5 Ounce Silver Bullion Coins will each be struck from five ounces of .999 fine silver to a diameter of three inches. They will be produced by the US Mint as part of its America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coin™ Program and will feature reverse designs emblematic of sites of national interest from around the United States and its territories.

The designs featured on the reverse will actually be taken from another series of US Mint strikes known as the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program. Both the quarters and these silver bullion coins were actually authorized by Congress together with Public Law 110-456 (America’s Beautiful National Parks Quarter Dollar Coin Act of 2008).

Under the Act, five coins will be struck in each series per year with one strike representing a location from each state as well as the District of Columbia and the five US territories. In total, the programs will each include fifty-six new strikes created as part of them before they are deemed complete in 2021.

Each silver bullion coin will be produced by the US Mint as a means for investors to add small amounts of the precious metal to their portfolios. The series will be joined by the 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coins which will feature the same basic specifications as these silver bullion coins but are intended for collectors.

These America the Beautiful 5 oz Silver Bullion Coins will not be sold directly to the public by the US Mint.
