2017 America the Beautiful 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coins

The 2017 America the Beautiful Silver Uncirculated Coins will consist of five strikes minted as collector versions of the US Mint’s 2017 America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coins™. Each of these silver uncirculated coins will be struck from five ounces of .999 fine silver to a diameter of three inches and are but one of eleven years of strikes created as part of the Mint’s America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coins series.

Both this uncirculated series as well as the bullion program will feature similar imagery including an obverse portrait of George Washington, the first President of the United States, and a reverse emblematic of a selected site of national interest. Those images, in fact, will actually be originally created for a third series of circulating coins produced by the US Mint known as the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program.

Thus, all three series (the quarters and the two five ounce programs) will contain nearly identical designs. However, their specifications will make each program quite unique. For example, the quarter dollars will typically be struck for circulation from a clad composition and only have a diameter of 0.955 inches.

This differs from both silver series which will each contain five ounces of the precious metal and have a diameter of three inches. The uncirculated five ounce series will be further differentiated by the fact that they are struck for collectors featuring an uncirculated finish versus the bullion coins struck for investors with only a bullion finish.
