San Antonio Missions Silver Bullion Coins

The 2019 San Antonio Missions Silver Bullion Coins will mark the forty-ninth release of the US Mint’s America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coins™ Program. Shown on the reverse of this five ounce .999 fine silver bullion coin will be a design emblematic of the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park found in the state of Texas.

This strike will also mark the fourth of five 2019 silver bullion coins released by the Mint as part of the series. Congress created these strikes as large investment grade coins featuring the designs of the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program.

The similar designs, however, will not lead to much confusion between the two programs owing mostly to their specifications. Whereas these bullion coins are struck from five ounces of silver to a diameter of three inches, the associated quarter dollars are typically struck from a clad composition and only have a diameter of 0.955 inches.

Struck as investment grade coins, the US Mint intends them for investors as a means of adding silver which is guaranteed by the US government for weight and purity to their portfolios. However, many collectors will undoubtedly also be interested in the strikes so the US Mint will also create a San Antonio Missions Silver Uncirculated Coin.

2019 San Antonio Missions Silver Coin Values

Each 2019 San Antonio Missions Silver Bullion Coin only has a face value of twenty-five cents. This is the same as the quarter dollars they are struck to resemble but does not truly reflect the true values of the coins.

For instance, each will also have an intrinsic melt value approximately equal to what the five ounces of silver found in each one would trade for on the open market. Thus, if the precious metal is trading for $40 an ounce, these coins would have a melt value of about $200 – five ounces times $40 an ounce equals $200.

Also, as mentioned before, collectors may be interested in adding these coins to their collection which could give them a numismatic value. This numismatic value generally carries a premium over the melt value of the strike which improves based on the coins condition and rarity.

Shown on the Coin Values Page will be current information on sales and melt values once the coins have been released for sale by the US Mint.

San Antonio Missions Silver Bullion Coin Information

The 2019 San Antonio Missions Silver Bullion Coins will contain a portrait of George Washington, the first President of the United States, on their obverse. This portrait is actually used on the obverse of all of the America the Beautiful related coins including this bullion series, the circulating quarter dollars and the silver uncirculated series. The portrait was originally designed by John Flanagan.

Shown on the reverse of the strike will be a design honoring San Antonio Missions National Historical Park found in the state of Texas. This design will be selected by the Treasury Secretary from several design candidates presented by the US Mint.
