Ozark Silver Uncirculated Coins

The 2017 Ozark Silver Uncirculated Coins will be released by the US Mint as part of its America the Beautiful Five Ounce Uncirculated Coin Program. Strikes in this uncirculated coin series are considered the collector-grade versions of the America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coin™ Program and are composed of five ounces of .999 fine silver and feature a diameter of three inches. Shown on the reverse of the uncirculated strike will be a design emblematic of Ozark National Scenic Riverways of Missouri.

Both this series of uncirculated coins as well as the bullion coins are struck containing designs originally created for the Mint’s America the Beautiful Quarters® Program. In fact, Congress mandated the similar designs for the quarter dollars and the bullion strikes when it passed Public Law 110-456 (America’s Beautiful National Parks Quarter Dollar Coin Act of 2008).

Since these uncirculated coins are struck as the numismatic versions of the bullion coins, they will also contain the same basic designs. This includes an obverse portrait of George Washington and a reverse design emblematic of the selected site of national interest, in this case Ozark National Scenic Riverways of Missouri.

2017 Ozark Silver Uncirculated Coin Values

Since these 2017 Ozark Silver Uncirculated Coins are struck to resemble the associated America the Beautiful Quarter Dollar, each will only feature a face value of twenty-five coins like those quarters. That value will be relatively minor, however, compared to the strikes melt and numismatic values.

Each uncirculated coin coin will have a melt value approximately equal to five ounces of silver on the open market since each is struck from that amount of the precious metal. Thus, if it is currently trading for $20 an ounce, these coins will have a melt value of approximately $100 – five ounces times $20 an ounce equals $100. The Coin Values Page will offer recent melt values for the strike once the coins are released by the US Mint.

Finally, as the coins are struck for collectors, many will likely be interested in obtaining it giving the strikes a numismatic value. This value typically increases based on the condition and rarity of the coin.

Ozark Silver Uncirculated Coin Information

The 2017 Ozark Silver Uncirculated Coins will showcase a portrait of George Washington on their obverse just like all of the other America the Beautiful related coins. This portrait was originally designed by John Flanagan for the 1932 circulating quarter dollar and has been in use in one form or another on the quarters ever since.

The reverse will contain a design emblematic of a portion of Ozark National Scenic Riverways found in the state of Missouri. Several design candidates for the strike will be released by the US Mint in early 2016 for review before the final design is unveiled later that year.
