The US Mint should release two silver sets in 2015 containing strikes created from the precious metal – the 2015 United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set™ and the 2015 United States Mint Silver Proof Set™. Each of these silver sets contains coins struck from 90% silver giving them an intrinsic melt value approximately equal to the amount of the precious metal in each set.
The quarters silver sets contains 0.904 ounces of the precious metal whereas the larger silver sets contains 1.338 ounces. All of the coins in each are struck to proof quality at the US Mint’s facility in San Francisco.
2015 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set
The 2015 Quarters Silver Proof Set contains that year’s releases of the US Mint’s America the Beautiful Quarters® Program. These 2015 National Park Quarters are typically struck for circulation from clad, but for the sake of this silver set, they are struck from the precious metal to proof quality.
Coins scheduled to be issued as part of these silver sets include:
- 2015-S Homestead Quarter representing Homestead National Monument of America of Nebraska
- 2015-S Kisatchie Quarter representing Kisatchie National Forest of Louisiana
- 2015-S Blue Ridge Quarter representing Blue Ridge Parkway of North Carolina
- 2015-S Bombay Hook Quarter representing Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge of Delaware
- 2015-S Saratoga Quarter representing Saratoga National Historical Park of New York.
This set totals 0.904 ounces of the precious metal when all five coins are added together.
2015 Silver Proof Set
The 2015 Silver Proof Set contains the quarters shown above, plus additional coins struck to proof quality but also representative of the circulating coins produced by the US Mint that year. In total, seven of the coins of this silver set are struck from the precious metal including the quarters as well as a Roosevelt Dime and a Kennedy Half Dollar. The remaining strikes are produced from their normal clad composition.
