2014 America the Beautiful 5 Ounce Silver Bullion Coins

The 2014 America the Beautiful 5 Ounce Silver Bullion Coins will be the fifth year for the US Mint’s America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coin™ Program which features five ounce .999 fine silver strikes produced to a diameter of three inches. The 2014 silver bullion coins continue the series that features reverse designs emblematic of sites of national interest from around the United States and its territories.

That criteria for reverse designs may sound familiar as it is the same used by the Mint for the circulating America the Beautiful Quarters® Program. In fact, both the quarters and these silver bullion coins will feature almost identical designs as both were authorized to do so by the same legislation – Public Law 110-456 (America’s Beautiful National Parks Quarter Dollar Coin Act of 2008).

Both programs were created to introduce five new strikes per year per program with one site honoring each state, the District of Columbia and the five US territories. The original programs are scheduled to end in 2021 at which time a total of fifty-six new issues will have been created per series.

Collectors may also find the associated 2014 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coins of interest as they feature the same basic specifications as the bullion strikes, but are produced by the US Mint solely for collectors.
