Voyageurs Silver Uncirculated Coins

The 2018 Voyageurs Silver Uncirculated Coins will be struck by the US Mint in 2018 as part of its America the Beautiful Five Ounce Uncirculated Coin Program. There will be five coins struck that year in this uncirculated coin series which are offered by the Mint as the collector grade versions of its 2018 America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coins. Shown on the reverse of this specific strike will be a design emblematic of Voyageurs National Park of Minnesota.

Both these uncirculated strikes and the similar America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coins™ are composed of five ounces of .999 fine silver and will have a diameter of three inches. This gives them much different specifications than a series of quarter dollars they are struck to resemble.

Shown on the obverse and reverse of these uncirculated coins will be designs originally created for the Voyageurs Park Quarter struck as part of the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program. This includes an obverse portrait of George Washington and the reverse design previously mentioned honoring the national park.

All of the coins in all three series honor sites of national interest from around the United States. In total, there will be fifty-six coins struck per program with one coin representing a specific site in each state, the District of Columbia and the five US Territories.

2018 Voyageurs Silver Uncirculated Coin Values

Each 2018 Voyageurs Silver Uncirculated Coins will feature a face value of only twenty-five cents. That face value is based on the quarter dollars which these coins are struck to resemble.

These coins will also have an intrinsic melt value associated with them. This is because each is struck from five ounces of silver and thus will be worth approximately what that amount of the precious metal is currently trading for. Thus, if it is going for $30 an ounce, these coins will have a melt value of about $150 – five ounces times $30 an ounce equals $150.

Finally, collectors will likely be willing to pay a significant premium above the melt value to obtain these coins. This is the numismatic value and it generally increases based on the condition and rarity of the strike.

When these coins have been issued by the Mint, the Mint Prices, Values & Sales Figures page will offer current sales information on the strikes along with recent melt value data.

Voyageurs Silver Uncirculated Coin Information

As previously mentioned, the obverse of the 2018 Voyageurs Silver Uncirculated Coins will contain a portrait of George Washington, the first President of the United States. This image of Washington was designed by John Flanagan and first seen on the 1932 circulating quarter dollar.

Shown on the reverse of the coin will be a design emblematic of Voyageurs National Park found in the state of Minnesota. The reverse design should be unveiled in late 2017 after it has been selected by the Secretary of the Treasury.
