Tuskegee Airmen Silver Bullion Coins

The 2021 Tuskegee Airmen Silver Bullion Coins will appear from the US Mint early in 2021 as part of its America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coins™ Program. These strikes will honor the Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site located in the state of Alabama with a reverse design emblematic of the location and will each be struck from five ounces of .999 fine silver.

In fact, this silver bullion coin may mark the last of the series which debuted in 2010 as it fulfills the Congressional requirement for the program to have a total of fifty-six strikes created as part of it. These fifty-six coins represent one site of national interest from each state as well as the District of Columbia and the five US Territories.

However, Congress also made allowances for the program to be extended for a second complete run. To do so, the Secretary of the Treasury must inform both the United States Senate and the United States House of Representatives of the decision by the end of the ninth year of the original series.

In addition to this silver bullion coin which is struck for investors, the US Mint will also release a collector grade version of the coin known as the Tuskegee Airmen Silver Uncirculated Coin.

2021 Tuskegee Airmen Silver Coin Values

There will be three values associated with each of the 2021 Tuskegee Airmen Silver Bullion Coins – face, melt and numismatic. The least of these should be the face value since it is only twenty-five cents taken from the associated America the Beautiful Quarters® Program these strikes are designed to resemble.

That value should be small compared to the intrinsic melt values of the Tuskegee Coins. This melt value is based on the fact that each is struck from five ounces of silver giving them a melt value approximately equal to what that amount of the precious metal is currently trading for. Thus, if it is going for $25 an ounce, these coins would have a melt value of about $125 – five ounces times $25 an ounce equals $125.

Finally, many collectors may also be interested in the coins which would give them a numismatic value. This value typically increases based on the condition and rarity of the coin with those slabbed and graded highly by an independent third party grading service likely being worth the most.

The Mint Prices, Values & Sales Figures page will offer recent sales data on the strikes along with melt value information.

Tuskegee Airmen Silver Bullion Coin Information

As mentioned before, the 2021 Tuskegee Airmen Silver Bullion Coins are struck to resemble quarter dollars. As such, each will have an obverse portrait of George Washington just like those quarters that was originally designed by John Flanagan for the 1932 circulating quarter.

The reverse will contain a design honoring the Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site of Alabama. This design should be unveiled by the US Mint late in 2020.
