Lowell Silver Bullion Coins

The 2019 Lowell Silver Bullion Coins will mark the first 2019 issue of the US Mint’s America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coins™ Program. This strike will also mark the forty-sixth to be struck in the five ounce .999 fine silver series overall and will honor Lowell National Historical Park found in the state of Massachusetts with a reverse emblematic of the location.

Each three ounce coin in the silver bullion series features a reverse emblematic of a different location of national interest and are struck to resemble the circulating America the Beautiful Quarters® Program, also issued by the US Mint. However, despite having similar designs, the two programs are quite unique from one another.

For one thing, their intent is different. The bullion coins are struck for investors from the five ounces of silver as an option for them to add small amounts of the precious metal to their portfolios. This differs from the quarter dollars which are typically struck for use in everyday commerce transactions.

Despite being minted for investors, many collectors will likely be interested in these coins. Accordingly, the US Mint will also strike a numismatic version of the coin known as the 2019 Lowell Silver Uncirculated Coin.

2019 Lowell Silver Coin Values

Since these coins are struck to resemble the associated America the Beautiful Quarters, they will also only feature a face value of twenty-five cents like those quarters. That face value will likely be the smallest value associated with the strikes, however.

The US Mint strikes each of these coins from five ounces of .999 fine silver giving them an intrinsic melt value approximately equal to that amount of the precious metal on the open market. Thus, if it is trading for $20 an ounce, these coins would have a melt value of about $100 – five ounces times $20 an ounce equals $100.

Also, as previously mentioned, collectors will likely be interested in the Lowell Silver Bullion Coins. This will also give them a numismatic value.

The Mint Prices, Values & Sales Figures Page will show current sales information once the strikes have been released. Also offered will be melt values based on recent market conditions.

Lowell Silver Bullion Coin Information

Struck to resemble the quarters, the 2019 Lowell Silver Bullion Coins will feature a portrait of George Washington on their obverse, just like the quarter dollars. This portrait was designed by John Flanagan and first appeared on the 1932 circulating quarter dollar.

The reverse will feature the design emblematic of Lowell National Historical Park found in the state of Massachusetts. A final design will be selected by the Secretary of the Treasury from several design candidates presented for review early in 2018.
