Arches Silver Uncirculated Coins

Struck as the third 2014 release of the US Mint’s America the Beautiful Five Ounce Uncirculated Coin Program will be the 2014 Arches Silver Uncirculated Coin. This silver strike will honor Arches National Park of Utah and be struck from five ounces of .999 fine silver to a diameter of three inches.

The silver uncirculated coin will feature designs based on the Arches National Park Quarter authorized by Congress as part of the US Mint’s America the Beautiful Quarters® Program. However, their specifications will be more similar to the America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coins™ Program also authorized by Congress with the same legislation as the quarters – Public Law 110-456 (America’s Beautiful National Parks Quarter Dollar Coin Act of 2008). However, whereas the bullion coins are struck for investors, the US Mint will produce these silver uncirculated coins for collectors.

As such, each will feature an uncirculated finish typically higher in detail than bullion strikes. Additionally, each of these collector grade coins will feature a ‘P’ mintmark indicating they were struck at the US Mint’s facility in Philadelphia. The bullion coins will not contain a mintmark.

2014 Arches Silver Uncirculated Coin Values

When issued, the 2014 Arches Silver Uncirculated Coins will have three values associated with them – face, melt and numismatic.

Since each of these coins are struck with designs based on the associated America the Beautiful Quarter, they will only feature a face value of twenty-five cents. Improving upon that amount, however, will be its melt value as each is struck with five ounces of silver. Accordingly, each will be worth approximately that amount of the precious metal on the open market.

Finally, these collector grade strikes will likely be of interest to collectors giving them a numismatic value. This value typically increases based on the perceived rarity and condition of the coin.

Up-to-date sales and melt value information can be found on the Coin Values Page once these strikes are released.

Arches Silver Uncirculated Coin Information

Shown on the obverse of the coin will be the same portrait of George Washington seen on all of the America the Beautiful related strikes. This portrait was originally designed by John Flanagan and first seen on the 1932 circulating quarter dollar.

The reverse will contain a design emblematic of Arches National Park of Utah. A final design should be unveiled by the US Mint late in 2013 with design candidates revealed earlier that year.
