2021 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set

The 2021 United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set™ may actually not be issued by the US Mint. That is because the original America the Beautiful Quarters® Program is only scheduled to release one new quarter dollar that year completing the fifty-six coin series that debuted in 2010.

Each previous year in the series, the US Mint released five new quarters making the likelihood of a complete quarters silver proof set much more likely. But, as only one 2021 America the Beautiful Quarter is scheduled, a set will probably only be issued if additional quarter dollars are struck that year.

As it currently stands, the only America the Beautiful Quarter scheduled to be issued in 2021 is one honoring:

Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site in Alabama

That may change, however, as the year approaches. First, and perhaps most likely, the America the Beautiful Quarters Program may actually be continued. The original authorizing legislation for the strikes, the America’s Beautiful National Parks Quarter Dollar Coin Act of 2008 (Public Law 110-456) allowed the Treasury Secretary the option of continuing the series for another complete run which would start with four quarters issued in 2021 immediately following the Tuskegee quarter. The decision to continue the series must be made by the Secretary by the end of 2018.

Of course, another option may be that Congress opts to create another series of quarter dollars or it may also opt to create a static quarter design that would follow the original America the Beautiful Quarter series.

If the series continues, and if the Mint opts to create a 2021 United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set, it should contain coins struck from 90% silver giving each set an intrinsic melt value. If the set contains the same five coins as found in previous sets, the total amount of silver included will be 0.904 ounces of the precious metal.

The one coin known to be included as part of the the 2021 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set if issued by the US Mint will be the :

2021 Tuskegee Airmen Quarter

The Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site of Alabama was only established on November 6, 1998. It was created to commemorate and honor the contributions made by African American Airmen in World War II, most of whom trained at the Tuskegee Institute.
