2010 Silver Sets

2010 was the inaugural year for the US Mint’s America the Beautiful Quarters® Program and, as such, the 2010 Silver Sets hold an important position in the history of the collections. Sets had been issued before containing previous quarter series such as the 50-State Quarters® Program and the D.C. & U.S. Territories Quarters, but the 2010 United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set™ and the 2010 United States Mint Silver Proof Set ™ would be the first to contain strikes of the new America the Beautiful series.

Both sets featured the five quarters struck that year in 90% silver as opposed to the standard circulating coins which are struck from a clad composition. Those are the only coins included as part of the Quarter Proof Sets and together totaled approximately 0.904 ounces of the precious metal.

However, those five coins were joined by nine others in the Silver Proof Sets. Of those additional nine coins, two were also struck from silver including the Kennedy Half Dollar and the Roosevelt Dime. The seven silver coins together add up to 1.338 ounces of the precious metal.

Each 2010 Quarters Silver Proof Set contained the five coins struck that year as part of the US Mint’s America the Beautiful Quarters® Program. The 2010 America the Beautiful Quarters were the first through fifth released in the series.

The five coins released as a part of this set include:

  • 2010-S Hot Springs Quarter representing Hot Springs National Park of Arkansas
  • 2010-S Yellowstone Quarter representing Yellowstone National Park of Wyoming
  • 2010-S Yosemite Quarter representing Yosemite National Park of California
  • 2010-S Grand Canyon Quarter representing Grand Canyon National Park of Arizona
  • 2010-S Mount Hood Quarter representing Mount Hood National Forest of Oregon

Each of these are struck from 90% silver with the complete set totaling 0.904 ounces of the precious metal.

The fourteen coins included in the silver proof set are:

  • 2010-S Lincoln Cent
  • 2010-S Jefferson Nickel
  • 2010-S Roosevelt Dime
  • 2010-S Hot Springs Quarter
