War in the Pacific Silver Uncirculated Coins

Appearing as the third 2019 release of the US Mint’s America the Beautiful Five Ounce Uncirculated Coin Program will be the 2019 War in the Pacific Silver Uncirculated Coins. These strikes will have a reverse design emblematic of the War in the Pacific National Historical Park found in the US territory of Guam and be struck from five ounces of .999 fine silver to a diameter of three inches.

This same reverse design will also be seen on the 2019 War in the Pacific Silver Bullion Coin and the 2019 War in the Pacific Quarter. The quarter is struck as part of the US Mint’s America the Beautiful Quarters® Program and actually serves as the coin upon which the associated bullion and uncirculated strikes are created to resemble.

Congress authorized the quarter series and the bullion strikes under Public Law 110-456 (America’s Beautiful National Parks Quarter Dollar Coin Act of 2008). Realizing that many collectors would also be interested in the bullion strikes (which are intended for investors), the US Mint created this five ounce uncirculated coin series.

Both the bullion coins and the collector grade coins are struck from five ounces of silver and both have a diameter of three inches. This makes them quite a bit larger than the War in the Pacific Quarter which will only have a diameter of 0.955 inches.

2019 War in the Pacific Silver Uncirculated Coin Values

The 2019 War in the Pacific Silver Uncirculated Coins will only have a face value of twenty-five cents like the quarter dollars they are struck to resemble. Improving upon that face value will be the strikes melt value and numismatic value.

The melt value of the strike will be approximately equal to what five ounces of silver is currently trading for since each coin is struck from that much precious metal. Thus, if it is going for $40 an ounce, these coins would have a melt value of about $200 – five ounces times $40 an ounce equals $200.

Each coin will also have a numismatic value associated with it which is the price a collector would be willing to pay to obtain it. This numismatic value typically carries a significant premium over and above the melt value and also increases based on the perceived rarity and condition of the strike.

Melt value and sales information for the strike can be found on the Mint Prices, Values & Sales Figures page once the strikes have been issued by the US Mint.
