The 2017 George Rogers Clark Silver Bullion Coins will be the last of five 2017-dated releases of the US Mint’s America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coin™ Program. Like other strikes in the silver bullion coin series, each will be composed of five ounces of .999 fine silver and feature a diameter of three inches. The reverse will contain a design emblematic of George Rogers Clark National Historical Park found in the state of Indiana.
These specific coins honors the national historical park dedicated to George Rogers Clark, an American Revolutionary War soldier sent by the state of Virginia to protect the colony’s interests in the Old Northwest. His actions were deemed quite successful and kept the frontier area from falling into the permanent possession of British forces.
Other coins in the series honor different locations of national interest found throughout the United States. One location was chosen from each state, the District of Columbia and the five US territories for a total of fifty-six to be honored in the program.
The United States Mint strikes each of these silver bullion coins for investors as a means for those investors to add small amounts of the precious metal to their portfolios. However, collectors may also be interested in obtaining the strikes leading the Mint to also produce the George Rogers Clark Silver Uncirculated Coins solely with collectors in mind.
2017 George Rogers Clark Silver Coin Values
Each 2017 George Rogers Clark Silver Bullion Coin will feature a face value of only twenty-five cents. This face value is taken from the associated quarter dollar they are struck to resemble.
That face value is relatively minor, however, compared to the coins intrinsic melt value which is based on the fact that each silver bullion coin is struck from five ounces of .999 fine silver. Thus, if the precious metal is currently trading for $25 an ounce, these coins would be worth about $125 – five ounces times $25 an ounce equals $125.
Finally, if collectors are interested in obtaining the coins, they might be willing to pay a premium to purchase them. This is known as the strikes numismatic value and generally increases based on the perceived rarity and condition of the strike.
The Mint Prices, Values & Sales Figures Page will show current sales information for the strikes once released by the US Mint. Also shown will be a melt value for each coin based on recent market activity.

This design should be unveiled sometime in late 2016 after it has been selected by the Treasury Secretary from several design candidates presented by the US Mint.
