Everglades Silver Uncirculated Coins

The 2014 Everglades Silver Uncirculated Coin will be issued by the US Mint as the final of five 2014-dated strikes in its America the Beautiful Five Ounce Uncirculated Coin Program. This series is struck from five ounces of .999 fine silver to a diameter of three inches and feature reverse designs emblematic of sites of national interest with this specific uncirculated strike honoring Everglades National Park of Florida.

That design criteria may sound familiar as it is the same used by the Mint for the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program and the associated America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coins™ Program. In fact, these coins will use those same designs and as such will be similar to the Everglades America the Beautiful Quarter.

Designs aside, however, these uncirculated coins will be more like the similar bullion coins which are also minted from five ounces of the precious metal. However, whereas the bullion coins are struck for investors, these uncirculated coins should feature a much more limited mintage as they are produced with collectors in mind.

2014 Everglades Silver Uncirculated Coin Values

Likely the highest value associated with these 2014 Everglades Silver Uncirculated Coins will be their numismatic value. That is because with a limited mintage, collectors should be interested in obtaining these strikes and will likely be willing to pay a significant premium to do so.

However, if collectors are not interested in buying the strikes, they will always have a melt value associated with them based on the five ounces of silver contained within each piece. This melt value will be approximately equal to that amount of the precious metal on the open market.

Finally, these coins also have a face value based on the legal tender status of the coins of twenty-five cents.

The Coin Values Page will offer current sales information on the strikes once issued by the US Mint. A melt value will also be shown on this page.

Everglades Silver Uncirculated Coin Information

Each 2014 Everglades Silver Uncirculated Coin will contain a portrait of George Washington on the obverse. This image of the first President of the United States was initially used on the 1932 circulating quarter dollar and has been in use on the quarters ever since. It also graces the obverse of each America the Beautiful related coin.

The reverse will contain a design emblematic of Everglades National Park of Florida. This design should be unveiled by the Mint in late 2013 with design candidates appearing earlier that year.
