Issued as the last of five 2014-dated strikes in the US Mint’s America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coin® Program will be the 2014 Everglades Silver Bullion Coins. These strikes will each be minted from five ounces of .999 fine silver like the other America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coins with this specific strike featuring a reverse design emblematic of Everglades National Park of Florida.
The US Mint produces this series of coins for investors, however, many will only be familiar with the associated quarter from which it takes its design – the 2014 Everglades National Park Quarter struck as part of the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program. Both of these strikes will feature an obverse portrait of George Washington along with a reverse design emblematic of the Everglades park.
As a bullion product of the Mint, these silver bullion coins will only be sold through the Mint’s network of authorized purchasers. This differs from the circulating strikes which are used in everyday transaction and also differs from numismatic products produced by the US Mint which are sold directly to the public by the Mint.
Those interested in a numismatic version of this coin will be able to order the Everglades Uncirculated Coin which features the same designs as the Everglades Bullion Coin and basically the same specifications, but are struck for collectors and thus sold by the Mint directly to the public.
2014 Everglades Silver Coin Values
Each Everglades Silver Bullion Coin will have a face value, melt value and numismatic value associated with it. The least of these should be the face value which will only be twenty-five cents based on the quarter dollars it takes its design from.
Improving upon that amount will be the melt value which is what the coin is worth in silver if it were to be melted down – approximately equal to the current trading price of five ounces of silver on the open market.
Finally, some collectors may want to obtain the coin for their collections giving them a numismatic value. This value typically increases if the coin is believed to be relatively rare of if it can be graded in near "mint state" meaning it is almost free from and scratches or other marks.
Everglades Silver Bullion Coin Information
These 2014 Everglades Silver Bullion Coins will contain the same obverse design as found on all of the other America the Beautiful related coins, a portrait of George Washington. This image of the first President of the United States was initially used on the 1932 circulating quarter dollar and has been seen on the quarter in one form or another ever since.
The reverse of the coin will contain the design emblematic of Everglades National Park. Design candidates for the coin should be released by the Mint sometime in early 2013 with the final design announced later that year.
